Our Sacramental Life
The Rite of Baptism
The Rite of Baptism is offered to infants and young children of parents in our parish. Contact the parish office to set up an appointment with Father Ben Stern. In general, those requesting the Baptism of the child should be Catholics in good standing with the Church, attend a Catholic parish regularly, and have the ability and intention of raising the child within the precepts of the Catholic Church. If you have questions concerning your child's eligibility for Baptism please contact the parish office and arrange to speak with Father Ben Stern. There may be extenuating circumstances regarding your child's circumstances which Father Ben Stern can explore with you.
The Rite of Baptism for adults is offered as part of the concluding exercises of RCIA (the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). If you wish information concerning adult Baptism, please contact the parish office and arrange an appointment with Father Ben Stern.
The Rite of Confirmation
Through the normal course of events, the children of our parish receive the training and education that will enable them to participate in the Rite of Confirmation either through their participation in Catholic school or through participation in the weekly Parish School of Religion (PSR; Sunday School) classes. The Rite of Confirmation is conferred every other year and includes the combined seventh and eighth grade aged students of that year. If you have transferred into our parish and are unsure as to where your child may fall in the schedule, please call the parish office or the school office for assistance.
Adult confirmation is offered as part of the concluding exercises of RCIA during the Easter Vigil.
The Rite of Reconciliation
First Reconciliation for youth is offered through our PSR program. For adults joining the Church, First Reconciliation is offered as part of the RCIA experience
Reconciliation (Confession) is usually offered at St. Theresa of Avila church on Monday evening between 5:00 PM and 5:45 PM as part of the Holy Hour celebration. Reconciliation is also offered before the Saturday 5:00 PM Vigil Mass and during our communal services in Advent and Lent. The sacrament can be offered at other times as needed; please contact Fr. Ben Stern to arrange a time.
Holy Communion is offered at each Mass for all who are in full communion with the Catholic Church. Communion is also offered to Catholics who are shut-ins, home-bound, in nursing homes, or hospitals as part of our liturgical ministries.
